OK you dog lovers out there! You may have acquired the idea that I am not over fond of dogs, and you may be right, but just for you, I am posting a special doggy edition of this blog today.

In California USA, they have an annual Ugly Dog Contest and I have here photographs of the winner and the runner-up. Aren’t they beautiful? No not really! But the thing is, dogs give you unqualified love and devotion, even if they are ugly. So, for those people craving unqualified love and devotion from dumb mutts, here is Miss Ellie and Pabst!!!!

At last we are having appropriate summer weather here in the Far West; rain and mist.

A science teacher has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of one of his students.

Peter Harvey, 49, is accused of attacking 14-year-old Jack Waterhouse at All Saints' Roman Catholic School in Mansfield on Wednesday morning.

He was remanded in custody by magistrates to appear at Nottingham Crown Court by videolink on July 27.

The poor bloke has my sympathy! I am only surprised that more teenagers are not killed or beaten-up by teachers and parents.

The charge of ‘attempted murder’ puzzles me though. How can anyone know or assume that he was attempting to murder the brat? If he had gone into school carrying an AK 47 one might conclude that he had murder in mind.

Pip, pip,

The Leg

I used to think our teachers were monsters and today they would be judged as such. Now I am older I realize that we pupils were the monsters.

Oh indeed we were! The attempted murder charge is ridiculous of course and brings the law into disrepute. I have little doubt that the man lost his temper and struck out at the thing tormenting him.

I wonder how often the A M charge sticks and finds a guilty verdict.... "Yes, I tried to kill him your honour, but he refused to die."

I know some lovely dogs and even one or two lovely teenagers.

If you and Mr. o`Moore got out more and mixed in the community you would find much to appreciate

Lovely dogs and teenagers? Sounds a trifle oxymoronic to me.... Pip, pip.
